Abstract

Abstract The diffuse magnon scattering peaks connected with τ = (111) in magnetite are examined at a number of temperatures using neutrons with λ = 1.314 Å. The decrease in magnon energies at elevated temperatures is observed and compared with the theory of Mills et al. [10]. Pronounced temperature dependent asymmetry of the magnon low energy peak is found.
