Abstract
In an earlier experiment the propagation time of a magnetic field pulse from the boundary to the axis of an electrode-ended plasma column was measured. An interesting feature of the experiment was that the mean signal velocity turned out to be anomalously high (at least, an order of magnitude higher than the Alfven velocity). One of the possible mechanisms of such fast field penetration into a plasma is theoretically discussed here. (MOW)
