The spin wave damping coefficient in helical magnetic structures

Abstract

The spectrum and damping coefficient of spin waves in magnets with helical magnetic structures, arising from the Dzyaloshinskii type of interaction, are studied. It is shown that the spectrum for such a structure is linear in a region of small wave vectors while the damping coefficient is proportional to the square of the wave vector. The treatment is carried out by quantization of the classical Landau-Lifshitz equations of motion for the magnetic moment.
