Abstract

The magnetic and resonance properties of crystals of the monoclinic double tungstates NaFe(WO4)2 and LiFe(WO4)2, differing in the location of the magnetic ions in their crystal lattices, have been investigated. Because of this difference, sodium ferriferrous tungstate displays the properties of a low-dimensional magnetic material as well as the observed rotation of the magnetic axes over a broad energy range. The possible mechanisms for the rotation of the magnetic axes are considered by estimating the single-ion and dipole-dipole contributions to the magnetic anisotropy energy of the tungstates.
