Effect of low symmetry in ESR spectrum of Er3+ in potassium-yttrium molybdate KY(MoO4)2

Abstract

The ESR of Er3+ on the ground and first-excited Kramers doublets is measured. It is shown that that difference in the angles at which the transitions on the different doublets are observed in extremal fields is due to monoclinic local symmetry of the crystal field. The angular difference is 47°.
