Abstract
The hydrodynamic instability of a uniform superfluid flux is considered at the absolute instability boundary. A model equation describing the nonlinear evolution of the destructive fluctuations at temperatures near zero is obtained. The maximum dimensions of the stable normal domains formed during the development of the hydrodynamic instability, and the possibility of the generation of quantized vortices of the superfluid velocity field therein are investigated.
