Acoustical cyclotron resonance in nonextremal cross sections of the Fermi surface

Abstract

Acoustic cyclotron resonance in a metallic film, thin in comparison with the electron mean free path, was investigated in the case where the electrons are diffusely scattered by the metal’s boundaries. In a weak magnetic field, when the electron orbit with maximum Larmor period does not fit into the sample, electrons whose orbital diameters equal the thickness of the film and those in an jxtremal cross section of the Fermi surface near a reference point participate in the resonance.
