Abstract
The behavior of the N−S transition-induced creep jump δϵns is investigated in single crystals of pure lead (in transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields) and in lead-bismuth alloys having anomalous thermal conductivities in the N and S states. A detailed comparison with the theory of local thermal heating in the N−S transition shows that the fundamental results of the theory are not adequate to account for the experimental data.
