Abstract

The resonance frequency characteristics of the surface impedance of a uniformly magnetized plate of a ferromagnetic metal have been studied; these are due to the excitation of stationary sound waves by an electromagnetic wave, due to magnetoelastic and induction mechanisms. The case is considered in which the external magnetic field perpendicular to the plate coincides with the axis of easy magnetization. It is shown that in ferromagnetic metals both at low and at high temperatures in magnetic fields H0 > 4πM0 (M0 is the saturation magnetization), the excitation of sound waves is explained by an induction mechanism for the interaction of electrons with the deformation of the lattice.
