Abstract

Nonequilibrium effects of the phonon system of a superconductor caused by high-frequency sound irradiation on the energy gap Δ (ϵ ; T) are considered. It is shown that for low temperatures (T≪ Tc) and pumping frequencies (ω¯′<2Δ) the effect of energy redistribution of electronic excitations (the Éliashberg mechanism) can be neglected. For sufficiently high supplied power (approximately 1 W/cm2) the nonequilibrium gap can exceed appreciably the zero-temperature equilibrium value Δ (ϵ,0); for Al the relative excess can consist of 25%.
