Abstract
It is shown that the method of two-photon spectroscopy of crystals with spin-forbidden transitions enables us to measure the contribution to the intensity of light absorption from mechanisms which remove spin exclusion. The exchange interaction is proposed as the basic mechanism responsible for the removal of spin exclusion in antiferromagnetic compounds of manganese.
