Abstract

A study was made concerning the dependence of the electrical resistivity, the magnetoresistance, and the Hall coefficient at 4.2°K on the antimony concentration in 4000 Å-thick specimens of variable-composition bismuth-antimony alloys. An anomalous decrease in the electrical resistivity has been found to occur in massive crystals within their semiconducting range of alloy composition. The absence of a transition into a semiconducting state in these films is attributable to an anomalous dimensional effect associated with the subsurface potential.
