Abstract

The solidification lines of deuterium of equilibrium ortho–para composition are measured over the temperature range from the vapor–liquid–crystal triple point to 20 °K. An inflection was observed in the solidification line which indicates the existence of a polymorphic transition in solid deuterium in the premelting region.
