Abstract

The NMR spectra of the normal ferrimagnetic spinel FeCr2S4 have been studied in the temperature range 2–77°K. In the vicinity of 10°K a transition is observed from the dynamical Jahn-Teller distortions of the symmetry of the surroundings of the tetrahedral Fe2+ ions, occurring at high temperatures, to static distortions.
