Absorption of second sound in superfluid He3–He4 mixtures

Abstract

Absolute measurements of the coefficient of absorption of second sound in superfluid He3–He4 mixtures with concentrations of 0.5% to 10% He3 are carried out in the temperature range from 1.3 to 2°K. It is found that at sufficiently low temperatures the absorption of second sound decreases considerably as the He3 content increases, and its temperature dependence exhibits nonmonotonic behavior with a broad absorption minimum.
