Abstract

It is shown that the nonlinear dependence of the superconducting transition temperature TK of α-uranium on the pressure P, is the result of two phase transitions of 2 1/2 order. By means of parameters defining these transitions, the coefficient of thermal expansion is calculated, which coincides with the experimental data. The effect of molybdenum impurities on the electron specific heat and the function TK(P) is explained. Starting from the concepts of the 2 1/2 order phase transition, the nonlinear variation of TK of cadmium with uniaxial deformation is analyzed.
