Abstract

Kinetic equations describing nonequilibrium states of the metallic films which make up a N1-I-N2 tunnel junction (N1, N2 are normal, nonsuperconducting metal films, I is an insulator) are derived. It is shown that electron tunneling due to the applied voltage can lead to electron energy distributions in the actual junctions essentially different from the Fermi one.
