Abstract While regarding the elementary biological function as a series of elementary acts resulting in either chemical bond formation (breakage) or a changed molecular subsystem state, we would like to focus attention on some of the most essential and general features of this process in terms of the Von Neumann theory of self‐reproducing automata.
