Abstract

We studied the anisotropy of the critical magnetic fields of thin columnar vanadium films. The position of the secondary maximum on the Hc(Θ) curve changed according to the conditions under which the films were grown. It was found that impurities as well as the structure of the films were responsible for the anomalous behavior of Hc(Θ). The effect is discussed within the framework of a model in which the impurity concentration in the superconductor experiences periodic modulation due to the columnar structure of the specimens.
