Abstract
The observed anomaly in the temperature dependence of the position of lines in the absorption spectrum of KDy(WO4)2 is explained by the occurrence of a CJTE-type (cooperative Jahn–Teller effect) phase transition. It is also demonstrated that only Ci1 can be the space group of a KDy(WO4)2 crystal at temperature below 10°K.
