Abstract

Measurements of the thermal conductivity of helium crystals with a molar volume of 20.56 cm3/mole are reported for the temperature interval 0.4−1.8 °K. Analysis of the results has disclosed a possible significant influence of dislocations on the thermal conductivity of helium in the regime of Poiseuille phonon gas flow. The values of the dislocation density and the time for normal phonon–phonon collisions are estimated. An explanation is proposed for the discrepancies among the results of various investigators in the Poiseuille flow regime.
