Abstract

X-ray investigations of solid 15N2 have been carried out at temperatures of 6–63 °K. The crystal structures of the low-and high-temperature phases of solid 15N2 and 14N2 are found to be identical. Data on the temperature dependence of the lattice parameters are used to determine density, molar volume, and thermal expansion coefficients. The effects of isotopic substitution on the properties of solid nitrogen are also considered.
