Abstract

The high-frequency density of normal mode vibrations of a layered crystal is analyzed in the case when intersection of the constant-frequency “flexural” and “longitudinal” vibration surfaces is possible. Taking account of even small off-diagonal elements of the dynamical force matrix results in hybridization of these vibrations. The location of singularities of the frequency distribution function in the spectrum of new branches of vibrations is discussed.
