Abstract

The high-frequency properties of an antiferromagnetic material described by the Ising model when a weak constant magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the chosen inter-ion anitsotropy axis is investigated. It is shown that certain components of the high-frequency magnetic susceptibility tensor calculated by quantum mechanics differ considerably from the corresponding components obtained using the semiclassical theory.
