Abstract

A theoretical study is performed of nonlinear effects in transverse electron focusing by a homogeneous magnetic field. It is shown that the character and form of the focusing line on a potential contact depend on the character and degree of superheating of the emitter due to heat liberation upon passage of a high current through the emitter. The role of electron gas heating by the electric field in transverse focusing is analyzed.
