Abstract

Crystals of helium isotopes in solid solution, with 0.05, 0.15, and 0.5 at. % He3 concentrations, respectively, have been grown under a constant pressure of 31.1 atm and their thermal conductivity then measured over the 0.4−1.8 °K temperature range. In an analysis of the results, a component of the thermal resistence has been isolated which is proportional to T−2 and corresponds to the mechanism of phonon scattering by stress fields around dislocations. The possibility is considered that the impurity component of thermal resistance could be weakly anisotropic.
