Abstract
The effect of superconducting transitions on plasticity has been studied in a number of lead alloys. Simultaneous monitoring of the magnetic induction showed that there exists a considerable amount of trapped magnetic flux, which reduces the magnitude of the flow-stress jump occurring at the superconducting transition point. By eliminating the trapped flux through heating of the samples, or by taking it into account, using the proposed procedure, we are able to obtain the true magnitude of the effect.
