Abstract

Surface phenomena are examined theoretically for a solution of He3−He4 whose free surface is covered by a thin macroscopic He3-enriched film. The surface excitation spectrum of this microstratificated solution is shown to have two branches, one of which corresponds to ordinary rippions, and the other branch is, for thin films, sonic (third surface sound) and corresponds to height oscillations of the He3-enriched film. The contribution of surface modes to the temperature dependence of the solution surface tension has been analyzed. The possibility is considered of using small-dimension electronic systems in helium for the investigation of surface phenomena in microstratificated solutions.
