Abstract

The level of heating of certain face-centered-cubic (FCC) and hexagonally close packed (HCP) metals during low-temperature creep, as well as for N-S and S-N transitions is investigated experimentally. The influence of the thermal properties of deforming metals and the cooling medium on the magnitude of their “local” heating is studied. The kinetics of heating during low-temperature creep are described.
