Abstract
The influence of orientation, purity, and initial strain by twinning on the amplitude dependence of the low-frequency internal friction is studied. A possible pinning mechanism of the dislocation structure during initial straining by twinning is discussed. It is observed that the main contribution to pinning is from point defects generated during twinning. It is shown that the pinning of basal and prismatic dislocations by such defects is not the same. Speculations are offered as to the nature of the observed effect.
