Abstract

The surface contribution to the low-temperature heat capacity of highly anisotropic crystals is investigated on a microscopic level for a specific model. It is shown, in particular, that this contribution has a characteristic maximum which is shifted toward the low-temperature region as the interaction of basal planes becomes weaker.
