Abstract

The behavior of an impurity spin with arbitrary parameters in an anisotropic Heisenberg ferromagnet has been analyzed by the Jacobi matrix technique. The theory developed permits a number of observed effects to be described from a unified point of view. In particular, the single-ion anisotropy is shown to affect strongly the temperature dependence of the spontaneous magnetization of an impurity atom. The appearance of a quasilocal impurity state near the bottom of the continuous spectrum is possible for nonweak-coupled impurity spins, providing an explanation for the observed broad quasilocal levels.
