“Spin-flop” type phase transitions in rhombohedral antiferromagnets

Abstract
This work investigates the features of orientation phase transitions in rhombohedral antiferromagnets under the influence of an external magnetic field parallel to the trigonal axis. Phase diagrams for antiferromagnets with various crystal and magnetic structures are constructed. The general conditions for the existence of the flop phase are elucidated.
