Abstract

We investigate the electrical conductivity and lateral focusing of charge carriers in a thin normal layer, in which current leads and potential contacts are located on the vacuum boundary, and its other surface borders a super-conductor (layered superconducting structure or the intermediate state of a type-I superconductor). It is shown that experimental study of these effects can yield useful information about the configuration of the n–s boundaries, as well as about the properties of the superconductor.
