Abstract
It is shown that, together with ordinary zero sound, strong longitudinal and transverse excitations with velocities smaller than the Fermi velocity can propagate in He3. It is established that the attenuation of such modes is proportional to the small parameter a = (ω0τ)−1≪1 (ω0 is the oscillation frequency of particles captured by the wave, and τ is the relaxation time). The generation of harmonics of a strong zero-sound wave is discussed, and it is shown that the characteristic growth length of the harmonics is of the same order as the attenuation length of the fundamental mode.
