Abstract

We consider the ground states, antiferromagnetic resonance frequencies, and dynamic susceptibilities of CuCl2•2H2O and CuCl2 • 2D2O in terms of a four-sublattice model taking into account the Dzyaloshinskii interaction. We treat the case of a field H||Ox for T = 0. We show that for the two lowest AFMR branches the use of a four-sublattice model leads to the same results as in the two-sublattice model. We have studied the exchange branches of the spectrum as a function of magnetic field and we discuss the possibility of observing them in IR absorption spectra.
