Abstract

The influence of pair correlations of electrons at neighboring sites on the superconducting transition and on the charge-ordered state in a system of electron pairs is investigated using the regular model of a superconducting glass. It is shown that for sufficiently strong repulsion, the transition temperature vanishes not only at points v = 0 and v = 1, but also at v = 1/2 (2v is the average number of electrons per site). The model of a superconducting glass is applied to alloys of some transition metals, which permits explaining the dependence of Tc on the effective valence of the alloy (Matthias’ rule).
