Abstract

The paper reports an investigation of high-frequency absorption by electrons localized above liquid helium in the temperature range from 0.4 to 1 °K at a frequency of 324 MHz and different values of the clamping electric field strength. It is shown that for T < 0.8 5 °K and for a constant electron density the dependence of the absorption on the clamping electric field exhibits sharp peaks, due, apparently, to the influence of the resonance effects of the collective excitations of the two-dimensional electrons in the measuring cell of finite geometry. A model proposed for the qualitative explanation of the observed effect is discussed.
