Abstract
The method of pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance has been used to investigate the diffusion of 3He impurities in the matrix of solid molecular parahydrogen at temperatures to 0.5 °K and pressures to 120 atm. It has been shown that at an 3He concentration of ∼0.1% and pressures above 20 atm the attenuation of the NMR signal is essentially nonexponential; this is explained within the framework of a proposed model of quasi-one-dimensional diffusion of 3He along dislocation lines in the parahydrogen crystal.
