Abstract

Transverse focusing of electrons in the presence of nonstationary emitter currents is investigated theoretically under the assumption that the size of the contact b exceeds the effective skin-layer depth δ. It is shown that if the voltage on the emitter changes with frequency ω exceeding the inverse time of flight of the electron through the region at the emitter ω0−1≈b/υF then there is no focusing effect (υF is the Fermi velocity). In the frequency interval Ωω0<ω<ω0 (Ω is the Larmor frequency of the electron), the height of the peak of transverse focusing of electrons depends considerably on the magnitude of ω.
