Abstract

The plastic properties of single-crystal specimens of parahydrogen have been studied at helium temperatures. It was found that the plasticity increases sharply as the temperature is reduced to 1.8-2 K. The phenomenon of flow of sufficiently perfect p-H2 crystals under the force of gravity was observed. The role of vacancy mechanisms in processes of plastic deformation is discussed.
