Abstract

The thermoelectric effect of the phonon drag in an asymmetric point contact between normal metals is considered in the diffusion and thermal limits. It is shown to lead to an asymmetric nonlinear contribution to the current–voltage characteristic, whose relative value is proportional to the phonon elastic scattering length and increases with decreasing electron mean free path.
