Abstract

The phenomenon of switching in the solid phase of sodium–ammonia solutions is observed to occur over a wider range of metal concentrations than in the liquid phase. Regardless of the metal concentration solutions in the highly conductive state have roughly the same resistance. At currents close to those which destroy the highly conductive state we observed a second switching which is probably associated with the formation of a highly conductive channel.
