Abstract

The effect of an external periodic field on the kinetics of diffusive metastable state decay in the process of Ostwald ripening is investigated. The external influence is shown to lead to a picture qualitatively differentfrom that described by Lifshits and Slezov. Beginning from some time t0, determined by the amplitude and frequency of the external field, the grain sizes cease to grow and they oscillate near some constant value; the number of grains does not change with time. In terms of this a model with a fixed number of grains is considered whose behavior in an external wave field is of threshold character. [Russian Text Ignored].
