Abstract

The effect of a weakly coupled impurity surface monolayer on the phonon spectrum, root mean square displacements and on the melting temperature of the near-surface layers has been investigated. In particular, a sharp low-temperature maximum in the temperature dependent part of the rms displacements of the surface atoms was found.
