Polaron effects in systems with local pairs

Abstract

The influence of polaron effects on the interaction energy W2 and bandwidth W1 of local electron pairs (bipolarons) are studied. The cases of interaction of electrons with local, polarization and acoustic phonons are analyzed. Analytic expressions are obtained for W1 and W2. It is shown that W2 ≫ W1 in the case when the energy of attraction between electrons is much larger than the characteristic phonon energy. The relationship with the experimental data is discussed.
