Abstract

The magnetic susceptibility of solid solutions of magnesium in aluminum at temperatures of 20–300 K is studied. The irregular contribution of electronic states in the vicinity of the intersection of the second and third bands on the WX symmetry line of the Brillouin zone to the orbital susceptibility is calculated in the two-band approximation. The observed features in the susceptibility are identified based on the calculation as electronic topological transitions at 2.2 and 6.7 at. % Mg. The positions of the corresponding critical points in the spectrum of aluminum and the parameters of scattering of electrons by magnesium and zinc impurities are determined.
