Abstract

We have studied the temperature dependence of the specific heat of a pressed sample of La1.8Sr0.2CuO4 in the temperature range from 5–55 K. We observed a bell-shaped anomaly in the specific heat in the region 28–48 K. We attribute it to the superconducting transition. The effect is about 10%, and the change in internal energy due to the effect is 20 J/mole.
