Abstract
It is shown that if the interlayer interaction in layered magnets is weaker than the intralayer anisotropy, a state characterized by the loss of translational symmetry in a direction perpendicular to the layers may arise. This concept is used to explain the AFMR anomalies in (C2H5NH3)2MnCl4.
