Abstract
The possibility of helium isotope separation in narrow capillaries is investigated theoretically. The dispersion relation for collective vibrations of an inhomogeneous liquid in a cylindrical capillary is analyzed. It is found that for a sufficiently small outer or inner radius of the separated phase, the light isotope distribution, which is uniform along the cyclinder axis, is unstable. The stability region for the separated phase is determined for various Van der Waals constants of the capillary wall material.
